The Casper Ghosts dropped their third straight decision 2-1 to the Idaho Falls Chukars in a quick 2 hours and 11 minutes at Melaleuca Field to fall to 7-9 on the season.
The Chukars grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as Geulin Beltre hit the first pitch of the inning from Alejandro Barraza over the wall in right field to give the Chukars a 1-0 lead. It would be the only run Barraza allowed, as he threw 5 innings, allowing just the one run on four hits. He struck out six.
With Barraza out, Steve Junker would pitch the sixth for Casper. He walked the lead off man Murray Watts, who would get to third on a double by Jake Kuebler. They would add a run on a sacrifice fly by Malcolm Culver to take a 2-0 lead.
The Ghosts would cut the lead in half in the eighth. Ryan Casteel led off with a double. He moved over the third on a ground out by Jose Rivera, and he scored on a sacrifice fly by David Kandilas.
In the ninth, the Ghosts would strand the tying run at second base.
Greg Billo picks up his second win of the season. He threw five scoreless innings out of the bullpen for the Chukars.
The Ghosts have now lost six of seven and four straight to the Chukars.
The two teams will play the final game of the two game series Wednesday night. First pitch is set for 7:15. Alvin Mejias starts for the Ghosts opposite Leondy Perez.
